Memories - the Autobiography of Ralph Emery

The latest book I read was MEMORIES by Ralph Emery. I enjoyed it as it reminded me of Kevin's time behind the radio microphone. I love reading about the stars he has talked with and interviewed. His childhood is one of poverty with determination to better his life.

Throughout the book, he worked hard to maintain respect for his craft. I have watched several of his shows and interviews and have always enjoyed his interviewing style. Since my husband also has a passion for radio and interviewing, I have seen first hand how hard it really is.

His personal battles with drugs and love is also discussed which places a realistic tone to the book. This book increased my respect of the person that is Ralph Emery.

Yes, this is an older book. I purchased it at a thrift store and as a pleasant surprise, I discovered it was autographed (to the previous owner), but that was a nice addition. Maybe it will be worth hundreds of dollars in a few years?!? Maybe ?!?

Looking forward to reading his follow up, also purchased in the thrift store, but not autographed.

Out of touch with blogging

Wow. It's been so very long since I blogged anything. As I suspect everyone is, life is busy, complicated or running by too fast.

Chef and the Fatman were out at Kinsey Family Farms yesterday. It was fun. It is getting cooler here in Georgia and yesterday was no exception. Although I love to snuggle under the covers in the morning, the cool air is much more bearable than the hot summer days. And the kitty cats are doing their best to keep me warm!

It's going to be a few busy weeks, but I am hoping to get to Louisiana to visit my Mom soon.

A finding earlier this year is that I have severe sleep apnea. Bowl me over with a feather! I have had a hard time adjusting to the cpap and still take off my mask at night without remembering. Kevin told me after about a week that I was a different person. I wasn't sleeping all day long and he said my attitude was much better. It's taken me several months to agree with him, but I think I have finally come around. I can truly say that I am feeling better and less tired. If anyone is reading this and wants to find more about sleep apnea, checkout www.cpaptalk.com. It is a great support forum and provides lots of information.

I also found out about a website (www.booksneeze.com) that I plan on looking into soon. This is a site that offers books for readers to review.

Later.
